E-commerce in Algeria has witnessed significant development in recent years, which necessitates the establishment of a robust legal framework to regulate these transactions and ensure a safe and fair business environment. Law No. 18-05 concerning e-commerce is one of the most important legislations in this field, as it sets out the specific regulations for electronic transactions, electronic signatures, and the protection of personal data. However, there are still legal challenges regarding the enforcement of these laws in cross-border e-commerce and the fight against cyber fraud. Nonetheless, this legislative framework faces several challenges, the most prominent of which is the difficulty in applying laws to cross-border e-commerce. Unregulated practices by major foreign companies in the Algerian market are increasing, while there are also economic challenges related to how to support local businesses against the dominance of global companies. Additionally, there are social challenges related to consumers' acceptance of the new laws and their impact on them. These challenges require continuous updates to legislation to keep pace with technological and economic changes in global markets.
